Stand or pay ??

One of the most economical flights in Germany Ryanair has launched an online poll to ask if passengers would stand on short flights if it meant they could travel for free, or pay 50% less than seated passengers.

The poll asked passengers: If it meant paying half fare tha seated passenger would they stand on a one hour flight? If they are interested to stand if that meant their fare was free on a one hour flight? And do you think passengers should have a choice of standing on short flights as they currently do on trains, buses and underground transport? Most of us travelling in government or local transports must have had this experience even though we pay the same fare as those who get a seat.

This online poll will gauge passenger demand for free flights on a proposal of vertical seating cabin.

By removing existing seats and introducing vertical seating, the Ryanair says it could potentially increase passenger capacity by 50%, with profits increasing by 20%, through the collection of baggage charges and other ancillary revenues.

As per me, I would pay for even a flight as short as 45 minutes as I am air sick ...lol.. But won't that be fun if you can reach your destination at half the price and all you need to do is STAND.

What are you here for ....

Have you ever thought that every person on Earth has a motive to be here...

APJ is here to give us the power of nuclear, Newton was here to reveal the secret of physics and make us understand things that we never thought about..like gravity, Graham Bell to bestow mankind with invention like telephone without which we cannot imagine life. Then there are great people like Mother Teresa who gave this world love, affection and care, AR Rehman for giving us music, Gulzar for lyrics that touches every soul, and the list is endless from inventors, entertainers to social workers.

Sitting in my cozy room, sipping coffee and chatting with my friend this thought struck my mind what am I here for. To get a degree in Organizational Leadership, work for an organization, make some money, get married, have children and then die. What a waste of life? After I am gone what will I leave behind that will benefit others. I am definitely not an inventor and I am not kind hearted like Mother Teresa. I am not patient enough to listen to others sorrow. I have plenty of mine to take care of.

I still have to figure out this secret. But what about you ? What is your motive on Earth?

Executives compensation...Is it fair ?

I think executive compensation is fair. One of the biggest reasons, according to me, to support this is the risk an executive has to take in order to grow on career ladder. I have done my training in Bokaro Steel Plant for 3 months. During my training I was very upset about the pay-scale. The workers at the shop floor worked 10 times more than the executives. As a trainee I was suppose to divide my time for all the sections from shop floor to managerial level. So when I reached managerial level I knew everything about the production process. I asked my trainer why there is so much difference in pay. Why are the people sitting in AC chamber sipping a cup of tea is paid higher than poor people working near burning furnaces?

The answer I received was something I will treasure throughout my life. He said they get lesser pay because they are poor in knowledge. The world is run by the people who attain maximum knowledge and who are ready to take risk and responsibility. Workers at shop floor do work hard and have the best skill in the work they do but have no knowledge about the other division. Even if something goes wrong they are not bothered about it as they are not accountable for what happened. One such incident where executives were fired because of an accident at shop floor due to ignorance of a worker; clarified my doubt further. Even though the executive was unaware about what happened before investigation he had to let go his job.

So, when executives are at constant risk for their job and have to be reliable for things they have not done I think executive compensation is very fair.
